he is so my kid

Today, Madden decided that he wanted to organize his books. He stacked them all in corresponding piles: Berenstain Bears books, doggie books, Mickey books, etc. He was so proud of his work. He said, "My books are all clean and shiny and nice. Now I can read them all." I love that my OCD tendencies are wearing off on him.

This is Madden, pretending to sleep.

smiles!

soccer

Well, Madden has been loving soccer practice. He had his first game this past Saturday. It went great, for the first 45 seconds. Then he cried and wouldn't play the rest of the game.

new camera....

We finally ordered a new camera. In 7-10 days, you can expect some higher quality pictures. Finally!

uh-oh!

Since Madden was an early walker, I've been trying to avoid encouraging it with Halle so that I can enjoy the baby phase for as long as I can. But...I think it's a lost cause. She takes a few steps behind her walker and loves it. She giggles and smiles every time she does it. She has also let go of the couch a few times and stood all by herself. I'm just not ready for her to walk yet. Tear. I don't want her to grow up.

tomatoes!

Check it out! I grew tomatoes! A lot of them! We've been enjoying lots of BLTs and salads and making salsa! They taste so good too! My cucumbers did not turn out this year. They were so bitter, even if I picked them small. I also grew a few green peppers and zucchini and squash. I really enjoyed having a garden. I hope to try to grow some berries next year.

breastfeeding and UP!

Madden has the whole breastfeeding thing all figured out! He thinks that the milk is stored in my tummy and that I have to drink lots of milk so that I can have milk to give to the baby. He also thinks that as the baby drinks the milk, she will get bigger and I will get smaller. Soon, I will be small like a baby and Halle will be big like me...according to Madden.

Now on to a different topic. We went to the dollar theater this past Monday to see UP! First of all, since when does the dollar theater cost $3.50 per person? UP was really cute. We all laughed out loud. Halle was great too. She wiggled around and sucked on twizzlers and then fell asleep in Matt's arms.

Also...Happy Birthday to my MOM! She and my dad are spending the day in Nauvoo! I'm totally jealous, I love Nauvoo! Can't wait to see you Mom!

Halle-bear!

First, let me apologize for my blog slacking. We still don't have a new camera. I'm hoping that we'll get it soon. I'm tired of using the cell phone for pictures.

Halle slept through the night 2 nights in a row. I probably just jinxed myself but I'm so happy about it that I have to share. She also has learned how to wave. It's really cute! Here are a few pics of the kiddos!

biting

When I make Madden take a nap, he usually has a hard time falling asleep at night but we still make him go to bed at 8:00. He will usually sing, read, and talk until he falls asleep. Sometimes, he stays awake until after 10:00 but he will stay in his bed. Well, one night, after having had a nap, he decided to bite his bed. A LOT! The next morning, I discovered these marks on his headboard. At first, I thought that maybe he used scissors. I asked him what happened to his bed and he told me that he bit it with his teeth. Madden has a queen sized bed and he bit all along the top of his bed. That's a lot of wood to bite. Why would one want to bite wood? I don't know. He could have broken a tooth or something. Crazy, crazy boy!

In other Madden news, he has his first soccer practice tonight and he is very excited. I think he is mainly excited to wear his new soccer shoes and socks.

I'm sure you are also wondering how the potty training is going. Well, he's potty trained, he just isn't poopy trained. He still won't use the toilet for #2. I just keep telling myself that he will figure it out someday. I just hope that someday is sooner than later. I'm really tired of changing his diaper.

junk drawer...for laura

My sister-in-law Laura blogged about her junk drawer earlier this week. We all have them. They are usually never clean. But, they hold lots of important items: chip clips, cell charger, batteries, hammer, chapstick, nail clippers, sewing kit, etc. A junk drawer is necessary. I usually clean and organize it a few times a year but it only last a few days before it looks like this again. Do you have a junk drawer?
