my house has grass!

I took these pictures a couple of days ago and the grass is even thicker now. We'll be walking on it by next weekend. Yeah! Madden's been pretty good about not walking on it but it will be nice to not have to worry about it anymore.

Madden eats veggies!

If you've ever had a meal with Madden you know that he's a kind of picky eater. He really only likes kid food like hot dogs, mac-n-cheese, etc. He also doesn't eat well when other people are around. Lately, he has been a pig. He loves to eat meat, fruit and vegetables. It all started when my neighbor watched him one day and made him eat lasagna with spinach. He devoured it! Then shortly after, he ate half a can of green beans. Yesterday, he ate a whole bowl of broccoli and cheese soup. The soup had carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and celery. That's more vegetables in one bowl than he ate all last year! Yeah Madden! One night, he ate more chicken and rice than I did. The other day, I fed him dinner and then we went to a really late BBQ and he was hungry again. He wanted a hamburger. He ate a whole hamburger patty and wanted more. It must be a growth spurt but it's nice to know that he's finally eating normal food, not just kid food.

my boy

How cute is this boy! All of a sudden, he seems so grown up to me. He has totally lost his baby fat and now has the body of a little boy. I love this picture of him. This is an expression that I see multiple times a day. He can be such a serious kid sometimes. He was checking out the sprinklers in our yard. He wanted to stay dry. Lately he's been coming up with some interesting ideas such as:
"When Daddy comes home from work, he will help me go to Wal-Mart to get more toys."
"I can take my captain hook on the airplane and help the airplane go up, up, up!"

Mickey Mouse

Madden loves Mickey Mouse. Today Mickey got to go for a wagon ride, followed by a ride on the scooter. Then Mickey got to try out Madden's tricycle and wheel barrel. What a fun day for a mouse! Right now, Madden and Mickey are doing puzzles together. This kid needs a playmate, or a sibling!!

a trip to the spray park

Last Saturda we went to the spray park with our friends. Madden wasn't the biggest fan of the water. It kind of shocked me because he likes to have water poured over his head in the bath. Matt had to force him into the water. At least he had fun playing at the park! I think we'll try it again on a warmer day. Maybe he'll like it more then!

new under-roos!

This kid is so excited about his new under-roos. He never liked to wear them until today. Now he thinks they are really cool. He asked if he could take a picture to show Grandma Cindy. He's been wearing them for 4 hours and he's been dry. He's gone potty twice, once sitting and once standing. I was a little afraid to let him try standing but he actually has pretty good aim. Every time he goes potty he gets another Otter pop! Some times he starts cheering before he's finished with his business and makes quite a mess. Let's hope that he keeps up the potty training enthusiasm! Yeah Madden!

my lawn!

My lawn is finally coming together. We decided to have it spray painted green instead of grass. Just Kidding! They sprayed it with hydroseed. We should have an inch of grass in 3 weeks if we water enough. I can't wait. Madden has already walked out on the green, wet foam. It will be hard to keep him off of it but it will be worth it to have grass soon. The landscaper came today and planted our tree and 10 little bushes. I'm hoping to add some flowers soon! Yeah!

Captain Hook

This may look like a broken hanger, but in our house, it is a very important tool. Madden carries his Captain Hook with him everywhere he goes. We've been watching a lot of Peter Pan lately so that is where he got the idea. He uses his hook for many important tasks throughout the day. Let me list a few:

*Opening the fridge or a drawer
*Unrolling the toilet paper
*Helping Mommy to stand
*Carrying toys around the house
*Brining Mommy her purse for a piece of candy
*Hooking onto the shopping cart
*Closing doors
*Sword fighting
*Eating
*Holding on to the toilet seat so that he doesn't fall in (this one requires sanitizing the hook)

It's June

This morning when I woke up, I realized that it was only 60 degrees in my house. I had to turn the heat on. It's June. I shouldn't have my heat on. I should have my air conditioning on. It's 40 degrees outside and it should be 80 degrees. This is crazy. I'm running out of winter clothes that will fit Madden. Hopefully things will start to warm up soon. I miss Summer!

Madden-O!

I just had to post a few cute things that Madden has said or done in the last few weeks.

1. A few days ago, he climbed up on my toilet to attempt to go potty before his bath and he accidentally fell in. I began to laugh hysterically. He just stared at me for a second and then began to fake laugh. When I was done laughing, I pulled him out of the toilet and he looked at me and said, "That's not funny. I got wet."

2. Last night during FHE, we were talking about President Thomas S. Monson. He looked at his daddy and asked if he could play with his trains now. Any discussion of Thomas should of course lead to playing with trains.

3. He has finally started to be a little more reverent during prayers. When he says the dinner prayer, he will first say what he's been prompted to say and then he says, "Shhhh." He hushes between each phrase of the prayer. It's pretty cute to watch.

4. He has also learned how to not go to bed. After bedtime prayer, we always sing a few primary songs. He has learned that if he keeps asking for songs, he doesn't have to go to bed yet. But seriously, who needs to hear 10 songs before bed. 2 is enough!

5. The other day, he told me that when he gets big like daddy, he will go to Grandma Cindy's house by himself!

6. Madden is obsessed with puzzles. He could sit and do puzzles all day long. He's actually pretty good at them. He can usually do the 20-30 piece puzzles by himself. The bigger ones, I have to help him with. When he finishes a puzzles, he raises both hands above his head and yells, "I DID IT!" It is the cutes thing. He is so proud of himself for finishing the puzzle. I've been trying to get a good picture of his celebrating but I have yet to catch him in action. I'll keep working on it.

Madden has a new pool!

Madden had a blast playing in his new pool on Saturday. He actually played around the pool most of the time. We had to remind that it is just as much fun to play in the pool.

my house has been condemned

Not really. My builder tore my porch out (to replace it) and boarded up the door so that no one would fall out into the large hole.
